Description
of the subject depicted in the print
(from the original source):

THIS gateway is supposed to have been one of the entrances to the city of Cumae: it is of brick-work, and so well built,  that in  places  it  retains  all  the sharpness of a perfectly new structure. The road, at this place, passes between two high banks; and the walls, in which this arch is constructed, reach from bank to bank.   It is very uncertain whether these walls form a part of the boundary of Cumae.
